Located on the site of a waterlocked stronghold, rebuilt into a chateau by Fridrich of Zerotin in the latter half of the 16th century, Zidlochovice Chateau is one of the best-preserved hunting lodges to be found in Europe. In the early 1700s, Count Sinzendorf, who deserved credit for the development of hunting, carried out profound Baroque adaptations to the building. Under the Dietrichsteins, and especially under the Habsburgs, the chateau served for hunting and social purposes. Its present Neoclassical appearance dates from the first half of the 19th century. Since 1918 Zidlochovice Chateau, together with the adjoining park, has been the property of the state.Today the residence offers comfortable accommodation in stylish rooms, in addition to a modern conference centre. The Zidlochovice Forest Enterprise offers the chateau's guests an opportunity to hunt for hoofed game or participate in traditional pheasant hunts in pheasantries in the surrounding area.
