Hruba Skala Chateau
The Hruba Skala Chateau in the Bohemian Paradise has launched a project called “Discover the Middle Ages – your medieval day begins”. It simulates the everyday life at a chateaux in times gone by. Upon passing through the gate, visitors to the chateau find themselves in olden times and everything they can see around them gives a clear picture of life in the Middle Ages.
The historic scenery, equipment, tools and machines, the donkeys and other animals, and characters from chateau life, including knights, magicians, dancers and musicians, comprise an attractive and interesting daytime programme, returning the chateau to its original character. Another part of the project includes the sale and exhibition of medieval merchants and craftsmen who, with their products and craft shows, are an accurate component complementing the entire programme.
The project also includes an area intended for children. In the chateau gorge, an entertainment and sports area based on classic Czech fairy-tales and fairytale characters is being opened for children. In part of the chateau park there is a sports ground called “Conquering the Chateau”, which comprises alternative sport and adrenaline activities for many visitors. It provides, amongst other things, archery, trampolining, abseiling and ‘bridging’.
