From the 18th century onwards, the Liechtensteins used the Lednice Chateau for the purpose of representation. The structure owes its present appearance to Neo-Gothic adaptations based on the plans of the Vienna architect Georg Wingelmüller,who was inspired by English and Scottish examples. Embellished in the style of decorative Historicism, the chateau interiors feature intricate vaults, wooden wainscoting and wallpapers.Visitors can admire the spiral staircase and the monumental chandelier in the entrance hall,the hunting lounge, the Chinese room, the chateau library and the prince's private chambers. Modelled by P.H.Devien on London's Winter Garden between 1843 and 1845, the huge greenhouse is a remarkable technical monument.The Baroque riding schools, designed by J. B. Fischer of Erlach, date from the late 17th century. Adorned with a number of romantic structures, the extensive Lednice landscaped park blends perfectly with the grounds of Valtice Chateau.
