The seat of the Kounic family for many centuries, Slavkov Chateau is one of the most important and remarkable (in terms of its artistic value) noble residences in Moravia.The structure's architecture and interior furnishings illustrate the development of styles from the Baroque to Neo-Classical.Today's Historical Hall of the chateau witnessed the conclusion of an armistice between France and Austria after the Battle of the Three Emperors.The "Virtual Battle 1805" situated in the chateau recalls the period of Napoleonic Wars. Visitors can admire the renowned Kounic Picture Gallery, which once was one of the largest and much highly regarded private galleries in Europe. Open to the general public, the two floors of the chateau's underground spaces have preserved the remains of an early Gothic commandry of the Order of the German Knights.The extensive chateau park is adorned by sculptures depicting figures from classical mythology, dating from the first half of the 1700s.
